You can pick up an extra library card enabling you to borrow even more teaching resources when you go on Professional Placement Learning (PPL).
Using the PPL card you can borrow an additional four kits, plus 12 other items that could be useful for your placement. These resources have a T at the end of their shelf mark, e.g. 372.38T.
Please note: You cannot borrow ordinary, theory books on your PPL card.
You can apply for your PPL card (PPL APPLICATION FORM) and keep it for the duration of your studies. The PIN Number for your PPL card is different to the PIN for your ID card (ask for the PIN when you collect your card; you can change your PIN via the (library catalogue).
You can start using the PPL card two weeks before the beginning of your placement (PPL loan dates 2016-17). Loans last the length of your placement so that you do not have to remember to renew your items whilst you are out on PPL (items on your PPL card cannot be renewed). Please ensure that you collect all materials taken into schools and return them by the due date.
Your PPL card can be used on the self-service machines, but some formats (e.g. videos, CDs, kits) will have to be borrowed via the Library Help Point.
Please note: If you lose your PPL card, a £5.00 replacement charge will be payable.
These arrangements do NOT cover periods of attachment.
For those who require repeat PPL facilities, special arrangements will be agreed with the Director of School Partnerships.
These arrangements are intended to ensure adequate and equitable access. They take account of students' individual arrangements, e.g. mentoring, and have been agreed between the Library and the Faculty of Education.
