Learning and Teaching Days 2015-16

Liverpool Hope University Learning and Teaching events are normally constituted of five staff development days spread across the academic year.

The agreed schedule for Learning and Teaching Days for 2015-16 will run as follows:

 
Thursday 8th October 2015 (afternoon) & Friday 9th October 2015 (morning)

Celebration of L & T at Hope and launch of the Learning Lab
Teaching will not be cancelled and all academic staff who are not scheduled to teach will be expected to attend.
 

Friday 23rd October 2015

University L & T Day
Sharing of good practice, reinforcement of key L & T message for the year. Reading day for all students.

Friday 8th January 2016

Faculty L & T Day
Content to be decided at the discretion of the Deans. Outside term time for most students so teaching will not be cancelled. All staff are required to attend their Faculty activity.

 
Friday 20th May 2016

University L & T Day 
The morning sessions will focus on key themes in L&T for 2016-17 (inc. QA Framework/co-design, DSA changes and its impact, TEF and an update on CMA, NSS and KIS. The afternoon will consist of a series of parallel sessions--some collaborative discussions relating to the key themes, and some practical workshops (inc. Virtual & Augmented Reality, Classroom Response, using e-Assessment, and Social Annotation technology).

These arrangements represent a reduction in formal L & T events. However, in addition to compulsory attendance at the above, all tutors will be required to attend at least five one-hour meetings of Communities of Practice throughout the academic year. This will replace the hours represented by the day removed from the schedule. Departments will also have the opportunity, should they wish, to schedule a L & T event during the Easter Vacation.

These arrangements, whilst reducing the disruption to teaching, give staff an increased amount of flexibility in what L & T events they attend and also ensure that the key University messages are communicated effectively.
