(+) is the point at which the 75% means tested element of the loan is reached

For income between £18,371 and £26,500, the grant is reduced by £1 for every £3,653 by which the income exceeds £18,370.

For incomes between £26,501 and £34,000, the grant is reduced by £1 for every complete £4.18 by which the income exceeds £26,500.

For income between £34,001 and £50,020 the grant is reduced by £1 for every complete £14.67 by which the income exceeds £34,000.

A student whose income is £50,020 will be eligible for the minimum grant of £50.

A student whose income exceeds £50,020 will not be eligible for any grant.

(*) The amount of loan for which students will be eligible will be reduced by 50p for every £1 of grant to which they are entitled, up to a maximum of £2,575.

Once students have taken out a maintenance loan of £1,500, they can apply to have this amount written off by making a payment of £5 to the Student Loans Company.  More information is available on the Student Loans Company website.
