The Angelus

The Angelus commemorates the Annunciation of the angel Gabriel to Mary. It is used three times a day; at dawn, midday and at dusk. It is a recollection of the salvific event when the Word became flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary, through the power of the Holy Spirit in accordance to the salvific plan of the Father.

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it done unto me according to your word.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

And the word was made flesh. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Pray for us sinners, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray: We beseech You, O Lord, pour out your grace into our hearts, that as we have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel, so by your cross and passion we may be brought to the glory of His resurrection; through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
