Headspace - Meditation, but not as you know it offers a free programme you can sign up to that take just 10 minutes a day.

This podcast is narrated by Jonty Heaversedge, one of the BBC’s street doctors, he explains how everyone can look after their mental health using exercise (9 minutes).

This podcast gives you an introduction to Mindfulness and its benefits. It is narrated by Dr Jonty Heaversedge, with contributions from Dr Mark Williams, a Mindfulness expert, and Kathy, someone who practices Mindfulness (14 minutes).

This podcast is intended to give the listener an introduction into how good nutritious diet can help mental health (15 minutes).

Wellbeing and Positive Thinking - Full Works

This podcast introduces positive thinking as a way of reducing anxiety and encouraging focus and goal setting (12 minutes).

MoodGYM

For: general, anxiety, depression.
Provides: Self help program modules, quizzes, exercises, online clinical support, information, relaxation downloads.

MoodGYM consists of a program of five modules which aim to teach you how to prevent and manage depression. The modules are completed at your own pace. Quizzes, exercises, and feedback about mood are provided. It has an online support group for people affected by depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and borderline personality disorder. 

The site provides information about understanding depression and anxiety, and the role thoughts play in causing and improving mood. For example, you are taught to identify warpy thoughts, develop problem-solving skills, and learn to cope with life events. The site includes an online workbook, and downloadable relaxation tapes. The group is moderated with clinician support and strict protocols to enhance safety. Participation is free and anonymous. MoodGYM is created by e-hub research and development group based at the Australian National University.

 

Living Life to the Full

For: general, depression, anxiety, low mood, learning new life skills.
Provides: Self help program modules.

A free on-line course with 12 modules to help with every day life with a particular focus on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). The course has been written by a Psychiatrist who has many years of experience creating a range of educational life skills resources.

BluePages

For: general, depression.
Provides: Information, interactive quizzes, relaxation downloads, contains the forum BlueBoard.

BluePages provides high quality information about the treatment and management of depression, including medical, psychological and alternative/lifestyle therapies.  Online interactive depression and anxiety quizzes allow you to assess your levels of anxiety and depression relative to community levels. The site also includes BlueBoard (see below), a forum through which you can talk to other people who have experienced or are interested in learning about depression.

 

BluePages also includes descriptions of the experience and symptoms of depression, a relaxation download, and extensive resources for help. Participation is free and anonymous.

Beacon

For: general, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, post-trauma.
Provides:  Information & reviews of mental health sites

Websites throughout the world are reviewed and ranked by a panel of health researchers. You are invited to submit your own rankings and comments. Participation is free and anonymous.

BBC Headroom

This site is part of the BBC’s Headroom Campaign to help you cope with the everyday stresses and strains of life.  It has a Mood-Spa self-assessment of how you are feeling with links to support materials.
