The University has adopted the Model Publication Scheme as recommended by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The Publication Scheme provides a framework in which information about the University is categorised as follows:-
1. Who we are and what we do
2. What we spend and how we spend it
3. What our priorities are and how we are doing
4. How we make decisions
5. Our policies and procedures
6. Lists and registers
7. The services we offer
The Guide to Information sets out the information held by the University according to the categories listed in the Publication Scheme.
Most of the information listed is published on the University website and, wherever possible, the Guide contains URL addresses which will direct you to the relevant material.
Some exemptions apply, and these will usually be for reasons related to commercial sensitivity, future publication or information relating to individuals which is protected under the Data Protection Act 1998.
To request hard copies of information available through our Publication Scheme, please contact the departments or individuals referred to under the various categories of information
If you cannot find the information you require, please refer to the guidance on making a formal request for information not listed in the Publication Scheme.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the “Act”), individuals have the right to request any information held by the University which is not already available through the Publication Scheme.
Requests should be made in writing and the University is required to respond within 20 working days. The response will confirm whether the University holds the information and will either
a) provide a copy or a summary of the information, or arrange for you to inspect the information
b) give reasons why the information has been withheld.
The University is not required to disclose information to which an exemption to the Act legitimately applies. The University will explain to you in a Refusal Notice why the information is not being released, and may be required to justify its decision to the Information Commissioner.
The University may charge a fee for providing the information, which will be calculated in accordance with the Fee Regulations. Further details are provided in the section on Charges.
