Several Liverpool Hope academics have been featured in the media discussing their research and topical news stories.

Head of Social Work, Care and Justice Professor Michael Lavalette spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside following the release of a report from the Social Mobility Commission.

Professor Lavalette shared his thoughts on the new State of the Nation report, which ranks all 324 local authorities in England in terms of the life chances of someone born into a disadvantaged background.

Lecturer in Education Studies Dr Richard Budd contributed to a podcast by The Guardian, which discussed whether society is becoming more polarised.

Dr Budd looked at the potential role of education can play in helping to reduce political and social polarisation.

Lecturer in Criminology Dr Ian Mahoney co-authored a piece for The Conversation on the news that Stoke council are offering 25 homes for sale for just £1 each.

In the article, Dr Mahoney and Tony Kearon, a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Keele University, argue that the initiative give local authorities the power to revive deprived communities.
